Alexa Device for Kids On June 12, Amazon unveiled a new Amazon Echo
Dot that features a child-friendly version of Alexa. The kid version of Alexa will use more
simplified language, as well as offering
answers to typical questions kids may ask. The Echo Dot Kids Edition will be available on May 9,
and contain the same hardware as the regular Dot,
with the addition of a durable bumper case. The speaker will cost $80 and include a
free one-year subscription to Amazon’s
FreeTime Unlimited service. FreeTime was created in 2017 and offers parents
daily activity alerts on their children as well as the
ability to set-up parental blocks on certain things. The unlimited version of FreeTime will offer a
library of kid-friendly games, songs and audio books. Privacy wise, the Echo Dot Kids Edition
will not share personally identifiable data
or voice records to third- party developers
