Amazon Makes $8 Million
Donation to Fight Homelessness The donations will go to nonprofits
in Seattle, Washington, and
Arlington, Virginia. These are the two cities where
Amazon's main headquarters are located. Arlington Community Foundation
receives the additional $3 million. In terms of employee donations towards the cause,
Amazon adds that it will meet a ceiling of $5 million. The moves come after Amazon recently opposed a tax hike on big corporations in Seattle. It received criticism for its stance on the legislation, which was eventually repealed. Projections say the law would
have raised nearly $50 million. Over the past few years, the corporation claims
nonprofits like FareStart have received over $130 million.
