Dr. John Dead at 77 The six-time Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member died due to a heart attack on Thursday. Born Malcolm John Rebennack Jr,
he played keyboard for acts like
the Rolling Stones, Van Morrison and
Aretha Franklin. Dr. John originally played guitar, but was forced to switch to the keyboard after having his finger shot off while protecting a bandmate. Statement, Dr. John's Facebook page In 1973, his song,
