KCNA reports growing concerns over drought; emergency plans being put in place
  • 5 years ago
International agencies are working with North Korea to reduce the damage caused by drought.
The North's Korean Central News Agency reports that the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in cooperation with Pyeongyang's Red Cross Society have drawn up an emergency plan to minimize the damage caused by drought.
The agency added the emergency action plan includes boosting the number of volunteers to beef up its response ability.
The World Food Programme and the Food and Agriculture Organization say the North's crop output last year was the lowest since 2008.
