Vietnam athlete carves into sand dunes to realise snowboarding dreams

Getting his start surfing on sand, Nguyen Thai Binh had no idea he could compete as a snowboarder until he turned up to make his debut on frozen slopes of the 2017 Asian Winter Games. While he failed to earn any medals, the 29-year-old Vietnamese athlete was hooked. Now he hopes to compete for Vietnam again in 2021, if he can find a sponsor. (Photo: AFP)
