Morgan Bain interviewed at Music Matters Singapore
  • 5 years ago
After playing a few showcases to the Singaporean crowd at Music Matters, Soul/Blues artist, Morgan Bain is tuned in with a different audience in a new environment as he spoke to the AU review's Johnny Au. After doing a national tour, he claims that this experience is something he can take on board to appreciate the different crowd interactions in both Singapore and Europe. "I think it's really quite amazing 'cause I've been told that everyone's reserved here. Not only that but people in Europe are quite also reserved in some places."

Even with the reserved crowd, Bain claims that his music has been very well-received to the audience. "We play soul-music - rock, soul, the dark stuff. I think soul as a sound is very universal and I think it's been really well-received here."

Winning awards at this year's WAM awards, Bain was more than stoked of his achievements in such a short period of time. "We had the Blues and Roots Song of The Year which we won this year which was great and also, I had a collaborative song with a friend mine called Toby and we entered in the folk category as well."

After receiving decent radio-play around Australia, he enthuses on the development of the new sound his music is approaching, especially since the promotion of "Why Don't You Play?". "Two days before Singapore, I did a national tour promoting a single, ["Why Don't You Play?"] which has bee played on Triple J and around the country which is pretty cool - that's the new sound that we're going for at the moment."
