The Wombats talk about their new album "Glitterbug" and their love for Australia

Here at the AU review, we recently caught up with Tord and Dan, members of English indie band, The Wombats. Here in part three of our three-part interview, we talked more with the band on their latest album, Glitterbug, set for release tomorrow.

The band shared some insight as to what we can expect from the album: “It’s maybe a little more grown up but at the same time more playful. Hopefully it’s an exciting album. It takes you on a bit of a journey. Lyrically I think it’s the best stuff [Matthew Murphy] has written. It’s quite romantic and sexy but still dark.”

The band also talked jet-legged touring in Australia, referring to it as, “a blur, but a really beautiful blur.” On playing the Falls Festival, they added, “We played Your Body is a Weapon for the first time live and didn’t know what to expect. And like ten thousand people started singing along jumping up and down… Having not played for a while you forget.”

The pair also talked receiving Australian recognition, “we just got handed platinum disks for the second album… I got goose bumps” and the feeling of love is mutual; on Australia, they enthused, “I think it’s literally the best place in the world for us to be.” It’s no wonder, then, that we can expect The Wombat’s return this July!

Glitterbug is out in Australia tomorrow, April 3rd, through Warner Music.
