PTPTN mulls reintroducing travel restriction on defaulters
  • 5 years ago
The Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) might bring back a travel ban for loan defaulters if the rakyat wants it.

A media briefing with PTPTN top management today, including its chairperson Wan Saiful Wan Jan, heard that the fund was also looking at several other ideas to further improve the recoupment of study loan funds.

This, according to PTPTN deputy CEO Mastura Mohd Khalid, included a proposal to the cabinet to bar defaulters from renewing their passports, driving licenses, road tax and business licenses.

Other ideas from the 10-point proposal - which were mooted to PTPTN by stakeholders it met during a series of engagements that started in December last year - also saw suggestions for the corporation to impose mandatory pay deductions, stricter enforcement and the implementation of a guarantor system.
