Ustad Md. Sagiruddin Khan hails from a family of musicians. He took initial training music under his father and elder brother and subsequently became a disciple of Ustad Bundu Khan, the celebrated Sarangi player of Delhi Gharana. Ustad Sagiruddin Khan under went rigorous training under him and by means of his flawless technique and originality, established himself as one of the all-time greats of Sarangi. He distinguished himself as a soloist as well as an accompanist to legendary personalities such as Pandit Omkarnath Thakur, Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Khan, Ustad Ameer Khan, Pandit Vinayak Rao Patwardhan and others. Ustad Md. Sagiruddin Khan is one of those rare musicians who have effected a smooth transition from instrumental to vocal music. As a vocalist, he represents a store house of musical idioms and has developed a truly individual style. He enjoys an esteemed position as a trainer of vocal music and a number of his disciples are known musical figures. He has Performed a number of times in National Programmes over AIR and Doordarshan.
