CELEBRATE BUDDHA’S BIRTHDAY WITH A TWO-DAY MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL AT DARLING HARBOUR
The annual festival to celebrate Buddha’s Birthday returns to Darling Harbour, this year celebrating 28 years. This specular two-day event will be taking place on the weekend of Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May from 9am until 5pm each day, providing a variety of activities for visitors of all ages and cultural backgrounds through rituals, culture, arts, food and entertainment.
Start the day with a Tea Meditation and Tai Chi exercise to destress the body and calm the mind. Pop by the Dharma in the afternoon to take part in a mindfulness seminar, guaranteed to help calm the soul.
Over the weekend there will be traditional ceremonies taking place, including the Bathing of the Buddha and Purification of Our Minds Ceremony. The ceremony is meant to purify people’s minds and to bless the world with peace. Visitors are also encouraged to pop by a Blessing Ceremony for World Peace, encouraging everyone to unite as one. In addition, invite mothers, babies and children to come along as there will be Mother’s Day Celebration and Baby Blessing ceremonies.
Don’t forget to listen to traditional and modern music, as well as view vibrant dance performances from China, South America, Cambodia, Lao, Vietnam, Australia and other cultures.
You can also enjoy the International Vegetarian Food Fair; uniting culinary delights from China, Japan, Vietnam, India, Malaysia and other nations. Visitors will be spoilt for choice while they feast their eyes through the various ranges of delicious cultural foods.
