Goddess braids are perfect for manes that need taming and when done right will last through a sweaty workout, party and everything that you do.

In this full-length video watch hair braid pros Hershesons break down goddess braids into easy to follow steps.

The small braid closest to the ear takes care of fine baby hairs while the larger braids at the crown keep frizz at bay.

These braids are especially perfect for curly hair.

FULL HOW TO BRAID GODDESS BRAIDS

Styled with: VO5 Sublime Sleek Creation Hairspray (£4.40, boots.com)

1. Section the hair evenly into four. First with a centre parting and then divide those into two.
2. Clip the inner two sections out of the way to work on the outer two.
3. Beginning on the left outer side, take a section of hair from the front of the head at the hairline then section into three strands, labelling them, 1, 2, 3 from left to right.
4. Cross the right strand (3) over the middle strand (2) and then the left strand (1) over the new middle strand (3). Keeping the strands separated, transfer all three into your left hand.
5. Using your right hand, grab a small section of hair from the right side of the section and add to the right strand.
6. Now bring that right strand over the middle strand and cross the middle strand over to the right. Keeping the strands separated transfer all three strands to your right hand.
7. Repeat this process, adding small sections of hair from each side and cross the strands over as you would in a regular plait.
8. When you come to the nape of the neck finish with a regular plait.
9. Repeat on the right outer side.
10. Now take the inner left section and grab an inch-wide section from the top of the left side and split into three smaller sections labeling them 1, 2 and 3 left to right.
11. Pull the middle strand (2) over the right strand (3) so strand 2 is now the right strand and strand 3 is now the middle strand.
12. Now with strand 2 you need to gather an inch-wide section of loose hair to add to the braid.
13. Before braiding in the new bit of hair, thread strand 1 under strand 3, then add some loose hair to strand 3. So you should now have strand 3 plus added hair in your fingers, strand 1 in the middle and strand 2 on the right-hand side with some extra hair.
14. Now take strand 1 above strand 2, making sure you keep hold of the extra hair you added.
15. Then add extra hair to strand 1, which will now be on the right-hand side so it is ready for when you have braided the extra hair into the braid from the left.
16. Repeat what you have done: take the middle strand above the strand on the left-hand side making sure you keep hold of the extra hair and then add hair to the strand that is now on the left.
17. Repeat until the hair is braided to the nape of the neck then finish to the end of the hair with a regular plait.
18. Repeat on the inner right section.
19. Now you're all plaited, take the two braids on the right side, twist them into a bun at the nape of the neck and secure into place with Bobbi pins
20. Do the same on the left side.
21. One of the braids hairstyles with keeps best when misted entirely with hairspray.
