There's an underground farm in London, and it's incredible...

Walking along the busy streets of Clapham in South London, you'd never guess that 108 feet under the pavement there is a fully-functioning farm, that's growing produce being sold in the supermarkets of London.

Swapping sunlight for LEDs, Growing Underground is a new way of farming, sustainably growing fresh greens, from coriander to sweet pea shoots, in a bid to revolutionise the way we grow our food. And it has already gained huge popularity, with celebrity fans such as Raymond Blanc and Michel Roux Jr.

Built in a former World War II air-raid shelter, Growing Underground is the brainchild of friends Richard and Steven, who embarked on the ambitious project to create sustainable, hyper-local and tasty produce.

The tunnels were originally created to protect up to 8,000 people from air raids during the 1940s. Now, however, it's home to thousands of seeds that are grown, harvested and packed ready to be sold onto supermarkets such as M&S and Waitrose, food delivery brands like Farm Drop, and at New Covent Garden Market to go to some of London's best restaurants.
