Defense officials from S. Korea, U.S., Japan gather for security talks
  • 5 years ago
Defense officials from South Korea, the U.S. and Japan meet in Seoul on this Thursday.... to discuss military cooperation and regional security issues... with North Korea's recent firing of projectiles likely to top the agenda.
According to Seoul's defense ministry, the 11th Defense Trilateral Talks will be attended by South Korea's Deputy Minister for National Defense Policy Chung Suk-hwan ... and his U.S. and Japanese counterparts, Randall Schriver and Takeshi Ishikawa... as well as the U.S. State Department's Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Japan and Korean Affairs, Marc Knapper.
The talks come at a time when military relations between South Korea and Japan have soured... after Tokyo claimed a South Korean warship had locked its radar onto a Japanese maritime patrol aircraft late last year.
Seoul strongly denies the claim.
