The History of
MLB's 300 No-Hitters Mike Fiers threw the
second no-hitter of his career, as the Oakland Athletics defeated the Cincinnati Reds 2-0. Fiers' no-hitter was the
300th in MLB history. The first no-hitter was thrown by George Bradley on July 15, 1876. Nolan Ryan has seven no-hitters, the most in baseball history. Sandy Koufax has four no-hitters,
while Bob Feller, Larry Corcoran and
Cy Young each have three no-hitters. Max Scherzer tied Nolan Ryan's record for
most strikeouts in a no-hitter with 17 in 2015. Ryan became the oldest to throw a no-hitter at
age 44 in 1991, when he recorded 16 strikeouts. Roy Halladay, on Oct. 6, 2010, and Don Larsen,
on Oct. 8, 1956, are the only two pitchers
with postseason no-hitters.
