The Diamonds rose to fame in the 1950s and 1960s with 16 Billboard hits. They were most recognized for their ability to introduce rhythm and blues to the wider pop music audience. The Diamonds had success with hits such as "Little Darlin'" and "The Stroll".

Their first single to be released with Mercury Records was "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" which reached #12 on the US Billboard charts in 1956, spending a total of 19 weeks on the chart.
