Chubby Checker was known as the king of the rock and roll dance movement with his most famous hit being "The Twist" in 1960. The hit was a cover of Hank Ballard's R&B hit "The Twist." In 2008, the track appeared at the top of Billboard's list of the most popular singles to have appeared in the Hot 100 since its 1958 debut.
