Tom Brady: The Comeback Kid

The 199th pick in the 2000 draft: this is the story of Tom Brady... In a no-stars motel on the Foxborough strip, he was a nobody in football's no-man land as Patriots had never won something substantial. Drafted by the Patriots, the then appointed new coach Belichick had no immediate plans for Brady. 'Welcome to the show!' fate pranked him by placing him next to Drew Bledsoe, New England’s superstar quarterback, and the NFL’s highest-paid player. Brady was inactive for the first nine games, just idly scarfing nachos and watching his teammates struggle. Finally, he made his debut on Thanksgiving in Detroit, calling 4 plays in the 4th quarter of a 34-9 defeat, the team’s worst of the season. Patriots dropped to 3-9 in that game and Brady was down after the defeat. But he was more dismayed by his teammates' behaviour as they seemed indifferent to defeat because they had already lost the playoff spot. None of that made sense to him. He did not like the quit, however, he could barely hold on to his roster spot that year. Brady was grounded to earth, but fate had forgotten who it was dealing with, it was no ordinary man, but a phoenix: the comeback kid! And come back he did in 2001 when the Patriots were down 1-3, he announced in a room full of grown men: Tom Brady A young kid lit a fire under everybody and the Patriots won 12 of their next 14 games, then the Super Bowl! Brady was named the game's MVP and this was just the birth of the comeback legend!
