South India on Alert after Hoax Call; concerns over Sleeper Cells of Terror Groups

A terror alert had been issued by the principal secretary of Tamil Nadu to public department saying that an anonymous man on telephone alerted that there could be terror attacks in South India. This turned out to be a hoax call, and the caller has now been arrested. However, upon receiving this input, all state machinery were activated to crack down on terrorists who were allegedly moving to Ramanathapura in Tamil Nadu. India is being careful in the backdrop of the Lanka terror attacks and amid concerns that the group that orchestrated them may have sleeper sells in India. After the call, search operations were conducted at lodges, hotels, bus stand and other places in Ramanathapuram district. The caller, swamy sundar murthy has been arrested in Bengaluru.
