Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un both proposed toasts during the official reception, which followed their summit in Vladivostok on Thursday.

"I would like to propose a toast to the further deepening of friendship and cooperation between Russia and North Korea, to the wellbeing of the people of our countries, to the health of Kim Jong-un and everyone here," Putin said.

"I visited the Russian Federation with the firm intention of continuing unwaveringly along the path of Russian-North Korean friendship, which has a deeply-rooted historic tradition and to give impetus to future North Korean- Russian relations," Kim said in return.

"I would like to propose a toast to the continued prosperity of great Russia, to the good health of the respected Mr President, to the happiness and great future of the peoples of both countries, to the health of comrades and friends," he said.

During their bilateral talks, Putin and Kim discussed the long history of friendship between the two nations and also efforts to bring peace to the Korean Peninsula.
