A Look Back at Eminem's Career

From Marshall Mathers to Slim Shady
As far as first impressions go with this genre, rap is synonyms with Eminem. Eminem penned his first rhyme in 1988 when he was 16 years old, it smacked LL Cool J, who was one of his favourite rappers. In 1996 he released his debut album titled 'Infinite', but only a few people took notice. And due to lack of sales, Marshall worked as a cook. In the following year, he would win second place in the Rap Olympics in Los Angeles and sign on with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath imprint. On Feb. 23, 1998, he released his second album The Slim Shady LP which created a buzz. However, it was after two more years on May 23, 2000, when he released his 3rd album titled 'The Marshall Mathers LP' that he would achieve blockbuster success by selling 1.76 million copies in the first week. Eminem has also starred in the hip-hop film '8 Mile', which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Lose Yourself". He has married and divorced Kimberly Scott twice. The Detroit rapper’s popularity is undeniable, and he's known throughout the world as an angry white rapper who is unafraid to voice his opinions.
