Beto O'Rourke: Media Is 'The Best Defense Against Tyranny' And Not 'The Enemy Of The People'

Beto O'Rourke commented about the media industry on Friday.

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke defended the media Friday in the wake of continued attacks by President Trump.
"I try to take every opportunity to describe the press not as the enemy of the people, but the best defense against tyranny," O'Rourke said during a speech.
"The Mueller report confirmed that what had been reported in the New York Times and the Washington Post was accurate," O'Rourke added. "And I'll tell you, as a member of Congress privy to classified briefings about what happened to our democracy in 2016, I learned more from the front pages of those newspapers than I did from the briefings I received as a member of Congress."
O'Rourke's remarks come as Trump continues to criticize the media since the release of the redacted version of the Mueller report on Thursday.
On Friday, Trump called the Washington Post and the New York Times, "the enemy of the people."
And he wrote in a tweet on Saturday: "The Fake News Media is doing everything possible to stir up and anger the pols and as many people as possible seldom mentioning the fact that the Mueller Report had as its principle conclusion the fact that there was NO COLLUSION WITH RUSSIA. The Russia Hoax is dead!"
