開幕前日恒例の「パー3コンテスト」。日本勢では、小平智と今平周吾が参加した。それぞれ古閑美保夫人、婚約者の若松菜々恵さんがキャディとしてサポート。初出場の今平は「緊張しました。人が多かったので。結構楽しかったです」とオーガスタのイベントを満喫して翌日のティオフに備えた。
On the day before the opening day, the annual "par 3 contest". In Japan, Satoshi Kodaira and Shugo Imahira participated. Miho Furudate and Nanae Wakamatsu, a fiancee respectively, support as a caddy. For the first time in the contest, "I was nervous. There were a lot of people. It was fun."

午前中の練習ラウンドを終えた後、2人は本コースの隣にあるパー3コースを同じ組で回った。昨年に続く出場となった小平は、今年も美保夫人が最終9番でティショットを披露した。ピンまでは113yd。「ちょっと力んだ」という8Iでの一打はグリーン右手前のラフに落ち、“寄せワン”で見事パーをセーブ。小平は「メチャクチャ悔しそうでした。パーが救い。ボギーだったらきょうは最悪な一日になっていた」と、ほっと一安心の締めくくりを喜んだ。
After the morning practice round, the two went on a par 3 course next to the course in the same set. Kodaira, who participated last year, played a tee shot in the final nine, Miho this year. 113yd until the pin. 今平は菜々恵さんが中部学院大ゴルフ部に在籍していた当時に知り合い、交際に発展した。日本ツアーでかつてキャディに起用したフィアンセも、同じ9番で第1打（7I）を放ったが、こちらは惜しくもグリーン左手前に“池ポチャ”。「クラブが重い割にイイ感じで打てたと思ったんですけど、池に入っちゃいました」と残念がった。
Imahira became acquainted when Nanae san was enrolled at Chubu Gakuin University Golf Club, and developed into dating. Fiance, who was once appointed as a caddy in the Japan Tour, also hit the first strike (7I) with the same No. 9, but this is "Ike Pocha" in front of the green left hand. Bubba Watson, Martin Kaimer (Germany), amateur 19-year-old Devon Bling, Matt Wallace (England) have achieved a hole-in-one.
