Leave Role as Team President He resigned right before the team's last game of the regular season. Johnson spent his entire Hall of Fame playing career with the Lakers, winning five NBA championships. He steps down as
president of basketball operations
after a little more than
two years on the job. In a news conference, Johnson said the
Lakers organization had no idea
of his decision, adding that he wasn't able to tell
