Motel 6 Will Pay
$12 Million After
Turning Guest Lists
Over to ICE In the state of Washington from
2015 to 2017, the budget hotel
chain shared the information
of about 80,000 guests. According to WA Attorney
General Bob Ferguson,
guests with Latino sounding
names were targeted. WA AG Bob Ferguson, via NPR News Ferguson says the
actions of Motel 6
"tore families apart." Many guests were either
detained by ICE or deported
after their information
was shared by Motel 6. More than $10 million
of the settlement fund
will be paid out to guests who
were affected by the practice. After settling a similar lawsuit in Arizona,
Motel 6 has since discontinued the practice.
