Trump Threatens To Close Southern Border, Says 'Mexico Is Doing Nothing'
President Trump on Thursday threatened to close the US-Mexico border.

President Trump recently threatened to close the southern border. "Mexico is doing NOTHING to help stop the flow of illegal immigrants to our Country," Trump wrote in a Thursday tweet. "They are all talk and no action. Likewise, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador have taken our money for years, and do Nothing. The Dems don't care, such BAD laws. May close the Southern Border!"  That message comes amid a surge in border arrests of migrant families, notes Politico.
On Wednesday, a top US border official stated that immigration enforcement has reached a "breaking point" and migrants are now being released following background checks due to the volume of families seeking asylum.
According to the Washington Post, "Trump has threatened to close the border before but not followed through."
The publication states: "In November, in the heat of a battle with Congress over funding for his long-promised border wall, Trump wrote on Twitter that 'we will close the Border permanently if need be.'"
