Hannah announces move to reduce bureaucracy to get welfare aid

Those applying for aid from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) no longer have to obtain signatures of their people's representatives for the application form.

Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Hannah Yeoh said the ministry made the decision following numerous complaints from applicants that the process was burdensome, more so if the MPs or assemblypersons had different political views.

To make the application process even easier, Yeoh said the 10-page application form has now been reduced to only three pages.
