President Trump called Green New Deal the “most preposterous thing.”

President Trump called the Green New Deal the "most preposterous thing." He said during an interview with Fox Business Network's Maria Bartiromo that aired on Friday: "It's the most preposterous thing. I don't want to knock it too much now because I really hope they keep going forward with it…because I think it's going to be very easy to beat." Trump made a similar comment about the Green New Deal during his address to attendees of the recent Conservative Political Action Conference.   He said, in part: "Green New Deal — I encourage it…they should stay with that argument. Never change…No planes. No energy…When the wind stops blowing, that's the end of your electric…Let's hurry up. 'Darling' — 'Darling, is the wind blowing today? I'd like to watch television, darling.'"
The initiative is being championed by Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other Democrats in an effort to tackle climate change.
"The proposal calls on the federal government to wean the United States from fossil fuels and curb planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions across the economy. It also aims to guarantee new high-paying jobs in clean energy industries," notes the New York Times.
