BERTHA - Tunnel Boring Machine
Bertha is a 57-foot-diameter (17.4 m) tunnel boring machine built specifically for the Washington State Department of Transportation's (WSDOT) Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement tunnel project in Seattle. Tunnel boring began on July 30, 2013, with the machine originally scheduled to complete the tunnel in December 2015. In December 2015, WSDOT estimated that the tunnel would be completed and open to traffic in early 2018.

SLJ900/32 - Bridge Building Machine
The SLJ900 / 32 is a special construction equipment for construction of bridges in prefabricated construction of Beijing Wowjoint Machinery Company. The 580-ton unit is 91 meters long and 7 meters wide. The SLJ900 / 32 drives on 64 wheels arranged in four groups of 16 wheels. Each unit can pivot 90 degrees, so that the whole unit can also drive sideways. The SLJ900/32 weighs 580 tons and measures 300 feet in length. It was designed by the Shijiazhuang Railway Design Institute. This machine is used to construct bridges in China, extending itself between pillars and placing beams along the way.

Mammoet - Self Propelled Modular Transporter
A self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) by Mammoet is a platform vehicle with a large array of wheels. SPMTs are used for transporting massive objects such as large bridge sections, oil refining equipment, motors and other objects that are too big or heavy for trucks. SPMT consist of different modules with 4, 5, 6 and 8 axle lines. Load capacity differs per version, with a maximum of up to 44 tons per axle line. Each module can be fitted with its own engine and control (steering) system. The modules can be connected side-by-side and/or head-to-tail, to form large ‘platforms on wheels’. SPMT’s have the possibility of 360 degree steering of the wheels. This allows carrousel and sideway movements. Their deck height can hydraulically be adjusted by approximately 60 cm., enabling vertical lifting or lowering of the load. Due to their variety of combinations, SPMTs can lift and move virtually every heavy load. These trailers are mainly used for on-site transportation over limited distances.

The NASA Crawler - Spacecraft Transporter
The crawler-transporters, formally known as the Missile Crawler Transporter Facilities are a pair of tracked vehicles used to transport spacecraft from NASA's Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) along the Crawlerway to the Launch facility. Weighing in at 6 million pounds each, the two crawler-transporters were designed and built by Marion Power ...
