தேனி மாவட்டத்தில் நாடாளுமன்ற தேர்தலுக்கான வேட்பு மனுவை பெரியகுளம் மேல்மங்கலம் கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்த விவசாயி மகன் குமரகுருபரன் என்பவர் தாக்கல் செய்தார். இவர் தாக்கலை மதுரை உயர் நீதிமன்ற வழக்கறிஞராக பணியாற்றி வருகிறார். இந்நிலையில் இவர் நாடாளுமன்ற தேர்தலில் போட்டியிடுவதற்கான வேட்பு மனுவை மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் மரியம் பல்லவி பல்தேவ்விடம் வழங்கினார். மேலும் தாம் தனது தேனி மாவட்டம் மக்களுடைய கஷ்ட நஷ்டங்களை புரிந்தவன் என்றும் சிறந்த வேட்பாளராக பணிபுரிவேன் என்றும் தனது தேர்தல் வாக்குறுதியாக தெரிவித்தார். மேலும் திண்டுக்கல் சபரி மலை ரயில் திட்டத்தை தன்னை வேட்பாளராக வெற்றிபெறச் செய்தால் விரைந்து செயல்படுத்துவேன் என்றும் அவர் உறுதியளித்தார்.
