Pres. Moon urges cabinet to concentrate on reviving manufacturing industry

President Moon Jae-in is urging the government to revive the country's manufacturing industry.
At a cabinet meeting Tuesday,.. he said it's a relief some key economic data, including that on employment, has seen an upward trend recently.
But he admitted the manufacturing industry remains a big problem.

"The slowdown of the global economy is causing difficulties in the global manufacturing industry, but we cannot blame that alone. The fact is, our manufacturing sector is losing competitiveness."

The president also called for the faster distribution of eco-friendly vehicles, including electric and hydrogen cars,... as well as highlighting the importance of new industries, the bio, health, and 5G industries.
Officials at the meeting were also briefed on the results of President Moon's three-nation ASEAN tour.
He emphasized the need for joint efforts with ASEAN nations for an era of co-prosperity.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet approved tax expenditure programs to boost job creation and innovation-led growth.
The government will lower the bar for receiving tax credits for companies that try to bring stay-at-home moms back into the workforce
