James Gunn Reportedly Returns as 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3' Director Gunn was previously removed as director after past tweets of his had resurfaced and were found unacceptable by Disney. According to Mike Fleming Jr. of
'Deadline,' Gunn has been reinstated
to write and direct the project. Fleming Jr. claims to have
confirmed the director's return
with reps from both Marvel and Gunn. The decision was reportedly
made "months ago," following

from the beginning
and even issued
a public letter
supporting him. Production of the new 'Guardians' film
will reportedly begin after Gunn
finishes his work for 'Suicide Squad 2.'
