Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is expanding its current work with autonomous or driverless vehicles, having been chosen as the exclusive tire supplier for a level 4 autonomous passenger transport service, called 'Olli'.
Goodyear has partnered with Arizona-based Local Motors to perform tire tests with Olli, the brand of an autonomous transportation service for eight passengers. Local Motors has also selected Goodyear tires for their exclusive installation in their Olli vehicles.
Adding this vehicle to the testing fleet will allow Goodyear to use it for an advanced mobility assessment at several locations, including the Mcity testing facility at the University of Michigan, the public-private research and development center with approximately 16 acres (65,000 m2) ) of roads and traffic infrastructures.
