Most musicians earn and live the stuff of dreams. When it comes to getting established as a household name or a legend, best thing to do is to bag as many awards as possible from these seven ceremonies:
World Music Awards: Established by the Prince of Monaco, the WMAs recognise the best-sellers in the industry.
International Classical Music Awards: Not inflated by too much publicity, but it's one of the most valued of all ceremonies and the most prestigious for those in classical music.
MTV Video Music Awards: Established to showcase achievements in technical and video developments, as well as for honouring artists.
Billboard Awards: These honour various chart performing achievements as determined by billboard, which tallies the weekly popularity of songs in the US.
Brit Awards: Presented annually in London, principally to showcase British music talent but it's also a spectacle which invites musicians perform.
Grammy Awards: Little needs to be said as it's known as the Oscars of the music industry, and every bit as glamorous. What is striking is the breadth of awards; 84 were handed out in 2018.
Polar Music Prize: Known in Sweden as 'The Nobel Prize for Music'. The prizes are awarded in a private ceremony for contemporary as well as classical musicians' achievements.
