Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was given a state welcome at Malacanang Palace in Manila on Thursday, the first such reception given to a foreign head of government by the Philippines under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Later at a joint press conference, Dr Mahathir said the Malaysian and Philippine governments will be encouraging their private sectors to explore new opportunities of joint ventures and investments.
