Poor Turtles Wrapped In Duct Tape Seized In Manila Airport

In excess of 1,500 intriguing turtles were seized by the Philippine Department of Traditions in Manila's Ninoy Aquino Global Air terminal, a sum that is said to be worth millions.
The turtles were found inside four bits of baggage abandoned by a unidentified Filipino who entered the nation through Philippine Aircrafts flight PR311 from Hong Kong.
There were a sum of 1,529 turtles of various species including Star Tortoise, Redfoot Tortoise, Sulcata Tortoise, and Red-eared Slider.
The vast majority of them were discovered enclosed by conduit tape. The turtles are worth about PHP4.5 million or US$87,017.74.
The organization has turned the creatures over to the Branch of Condition and Normal Assets' Natural life Traffic Checking Unit.
It said that the four bits of gear had been X-rayed via air terminal faculty and were left unclaimed in the landings region.
Violators may confront detainment of one year and one day to two years and a fine of PHP20,000 or US$386.75 to PHP200,000 or US$3,867.46.
