Rohith Vemula Case: 'Depression' or 'Political abetment'?

The man at the centre of the whole row in Rohith Vemula Suicide Case has come out claiming that he was attacked by at least 30 ASA activists and it was this assault that landed him in a hospital. His charge comes at a time when Rohith's friends have accused him of lying and faking his surgery. So what was it that lead to Rohith's death, depression or something else.
