Nation At 9: Two murders but also two denials

On Thursday union minister general VK Singh drew a dog analogy to unforgivably trivialise the murder of a Dalit in Faridabad. It was reprehensible. It was insensitive. It was criminally callous so today when the Haryana chief minister with cavalier disregard for the facts dismissed the caste angle to the killings in Faridabad and Sonipat it made many wonder if the denial and dismissiveness of the establishment was borne out of a motivation, a political motivation. After all many will tell you that there is much to be gained by underplaying the dalit link for one it saves the BJP the blushes in Bihar where the opposition has pounced upon the murders to re-iterate the BJP's upper caste credentials.
