A Bengaluru-based jewellery store is under flak from women’s rights activists and customers for their ‘The Dowri Trunk’ show.
The show, conducted by Bengaluru-based C. Krishniah Chetty Jewellers, is being held in Mysuru till Sunday, with the tag “a dazzling jewellery show for the bride-to-be and the forever-bride”. It is being criticised for its perceived trivialising of the dowry tradition, which has been prohibited by law.
