The Bihar legislative council’s biennial election results present a grim picture for the coalition of Nitish Kumar, Lalu Yadav and Congress. This was the first election since the three parties formed a formal electoral alliance where their combined might and their much hyped calculations of social arithmetic were put to test. Unfortunately for them the results are a severe jolt and an ominous warning for the coming assembly elections in the state.
