In utter disregard for traffic rules, a group of youngsters vroomed in their swanky cars and bikes, striking terror among pedestrians and commuters alike, in the heart of Vijayawada. Worse, the cops stood as mute spectators to this circus. While the birthday boy and a couple of his friends had the ride of their lives in cars hanging onto the doors and bursting crackers, some of their followers followed riding over a dozen bikes honking around on the roads. The incident is a clear example of how cops treat the VIPs with kid gloves but are ready to attack the common man. From an MLA's kin going on a rampage in Madhya Pradesh to a cop attacking a woman for not paying bribe, the administration has different yardsticks for the common man and the VIP.
