Can You Improve Your Mental Health With Diet? It's long been theorized that diet and mental health are connected. Now, science finally has
the proof. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Public Health showed that an increase in fruit and vegetable consumption led to increased happiness. Simply adding one portion of produce to your diet a day could be as beneficial as going for a walk for seven days a month! The study even found that the amount of fruits and veggies consumed per day can predict an anxiety or depression diagnosis later on. However, diet alone isn't always enough to lift
our spirits. Other lifestyle factors play a role, including level of fitness, smoking and substance use. But vitamins C and E have been shown to lower inflammation linked
to depression. Who knew that vegetables could make you happy?
