Devendra Fadnavis leads race in BJP for top job in Maharashtra
  • 5 years ago
BJP Maharashtra state president, Devendra Fadnavis, is emerging the party's frontrunner for the post of chief minister, with two days to go for the assembly elections.

In a state where corruption has been one of the key campaign issues, the 44-year-old Fadnavis' "clean image" has caught the national leadership's attention. Fadnavis seems acceptable across regions and among various factions in the state's politics, with party leaders almost endorsing his name as the next chief minister at election rallies already.

For instance, at a rally near Nagpur on Sunday, leaders who spoke kept mentioning "Kendrat Narendra, Rajyat Devendra" implying there is Narendra Modi at the Centre and you will have Devendra (Fadnavis) at the state.
