#SunandaMystery: Swamy demands CBI probe in Sunanda Pushkar death case

Turning down the demand for a CBI probe by senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy into the death of Sunanda Pushkar, the Delhi police has said it is "competent" to investigate the case. The move came after an AIIMS medical board came out with its final report in the case establishing the "cause of death" as "poisoning" and pulled up the police for not providing crucial "circumstantial evidence" required for framing medical opinion. Sources said the police is in the process of handing over the required evidence in the case. But at the same time, it has asked the medical board to identify the 'poison' that caused her death.

The police will now go for some advanced forensic tests in the case. Also, as mentioned in the report, the police will have to submit to the AIIMS forensic lab, mattress and bed sheets of the hotel room where Sunanda was found dead. After this an FIR in the case is likely to follow.

After the fresh AIIMS report surfaced earlier this week, Delhi police chief B.S. Bassi termed it as "inconclusive".
