NCP likely to walk out of alliance with Congress
  • 5 years ago
It was a day of parting ways in the two key camps in Maharashtra. Hours after the BJP announced it was splitting from Shiv Sena, the NCP ended its 15-year-old alliance with the Congress and declared it would "go it alone" in this elections against "communal forces".

The NCP also quit the Congress-led government in the state, reducing it to a minority. Withdrawing support from the government, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar blamed Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan for the split, saying the NCP was never neglected by the earlier Congress chief minsters.
