Meeting of NCP - Congress leaders remains inconclusive
  • 5 years ago
A standoff over the seat-sharing issue between the Congress and the NCP for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls continued on Tuesday, as both the parties, who met in Mumbai to take a final decision on the matter, could not come to terms.

State Congress chief Manikrao Thakre, who was present at the meeting, also said the "talks were inconclusive." NCP's core committee chaired by party chief Sharad Pawar had gone into a huddle here yesterday where it reaffirmed that the alliance should continue but insisted on getting a larger share of the state's 288 Assembly seats than 124 offered by Congress.

However, Narayan Rane, the party's assembly poll campaign in-charge said, "Discussion over seat-sharing could not be completed and will be resumed in the evening."
