CBI probe against Salman Khurshid’s NGO likely

Embarrassment looms large for former Union minister Salman Khurshid with social justice ministry recommending a CBI inquiry into the allegations of embezzlement against an NGO run by the Congress spokesman.
A controversy broke out in UPA-2 when it was alleged that the NGO had fudged documents to swindle funds allocated for the welfare of disabled people.
"There is an NGO in Uttar Pradesh associated with a politician. We have referred the case of irregularities against it for a CBI probe. It is being examined by the law ministry," social justice minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot told reporters.
When asked if he was referring to Khurshid's NGO, the minister nodded to the suggestion. "We have asked the law ministry to look into our recommendation at the earliest," he added.
