Bypoll results: BJP leading in only 5 assembly seats out of 9

Early trends from the counting for the three Lok Sabha and 33 assembly seats across 10 states show that the BJP is suffering big reverses in Uttar Pradesh, and is ceding ground in two other key states, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
According to trends the BJP was leading only in 2 out of 11 seats in UP, that is 9 down from last time when the party and its ally the Apna Dal held all these 11 seats. The big gainer is likely to be the Samajwadi Party which is leading in 9 seats.
The results especially to the 11 UP assembly seats are crucial to the BJP as it would be seen as a test on whether the Modi magic is still working.
