Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy, is not for a toothless regulator for the coal sector.‎ The Minister said on Sunday that the framework for a stronger regulator is in the works.

"The Coal Regulatory Authority proposed earlier was a toothless and non-statutory body. We want a strong regulator and are working out the framework for it," said Goyal.
