The allegation levelled by former Supreme Court Judge and Chief Justice of Madras High Court Markandey Katju has stirred a major controversy. The Lok Sabha was adjourned on Tuesday following the uproar in the house over Katju's allegations against three former Supreme Court judges.

The Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad relied on the issue and said that there is a need to form a National Judicial Commission. He further added that there is an urgent requirement to improve system of appointing judges and that the government is committed to the cause and will ensure the review appointment of judges. He said, "Honourable judges have retired, we can't put the clock back; our government is keen to appoint judicial commission."
