Centre had returned collegium's recommendation

The Supreme Court collegium has rejected the objections raised by the Law Ministry on Karnataka High Court Justice KL Manjunath's elevation as the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Standing firm on its decision, the collegium said that the objections raised by the Centre are baseless and unfounded. The government had reportedly returned a file relating to the elevation of Justice Manjunath with a request to reconsider its decision.
